Max and the Marginalised - Museum of Mistakes– Newest Industry Records
By Riff Munger submitted

I know nothing about who this band is or whos in the band and in some respects I don’t want to know before I listened to the vinyl album. I want to hear a new band, new songs, new ideas and a new approach that hasn’t been done a million time by countless copy cats. The first time I just didn’t know what to make of this album, was it what I expected?, no, thank fuck! Did I like it, I wasn’t sure, the songs were different and fresh and engaging, but I had to listen to it several time to get a grip on the bands direction, since there are many ways this bands put there songs together on this record. What smacks you about is this guys voice, and his delivery and his lyrics that drew me in to this album and what the band had to say. To get musical here, the sweet/sour - major/minor chords and melodies keep you from getting complacent as a listener here which makes the songs twist and turn. I don’t think I could box this band off by putting them into pigeon holes to make my job easy and your life even easier.. fuck that!. It’s not crash bang wallop either, lots of semi distorted guitars and great vocals to compliment the songs, yet the fast songs are precise and clinical in there delivery, the slower songs “someday” is just stunning way to show off his voice. With moments of genius this album is a quiet classic that will escape the masses, and sometimes it is nice to know that you got to hear it and then let it grow on you and learn to love the songs and attitude a band can exude with their outpourings. I think what is great to hear is how they can go from full on to wide open song structure and back to anthem is a song and not make it sound forced at all, very clever and very fresh! (to my old cynical ears) Im not going to list each song and how the vocal harmonies compliment the minor chords or what each song means etc etc ….. JUST buy this fucking album and sit back and enjoy the whole fucking journey !
